Viktor Skersis: Iskusstvo Eto Ogogo! ("Art Is Wow!")

The curators of the exhibition describe Viktor Skersis as "Mozart and Salieri of the Moscow avant-garde art scene".

Fifty-three-year-old Skersis, who moved to the United States more than 20 years ago, used to belong to the so-called "analytical wing" of the Moscow conceptualist school. The painter, object artist and performer has dozens of single-artist and group exhibitions in Moscow, New York, Paris, Cologne and other cities on his track record.

This new exhibition project, which in a way serves as a postscript to the artist's recent retrospective at Stella Art Foundation, is said to deal with the fundamental issue of the nature of art, posing questions about what contemporary art exactly is and what is its relation to other areas of day-to-day life.
