Russia bans Ukrainian cheese

Source  at 07/02/2012

The Russian-Ukrainian cheese spat has moved into a decisive stage with the Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights having introducing a cheese ban on several varieties of Ukrainian cheese.

“We have grounds to ban a whole range of producers with which we have discovered the most negative findings in their so-called cheese products,” Interfax quoted Russia’s chief sanitary doctor, Gannady Onishchenko, as saying on Tuesday. Onishchenko said that of 178 cheeses tested 38 did not meet Russian standards in terms of fatty-acid content. The exact brands that have been banned have not yet been named.
