by at 25/11/2010 17:40

Christmas shopping is kicking off early with the annual International Women’s Club Winter Bazaar.

And it’s a great chance to get a taste of festive food from around the world without braving the rush to the airports.

With everything from Canadian Ice Wine to Nigerian delicacies on the menu there’s something to tickle everyone’s tastebuds.

Other countries are contributing their culinary skills to the event’s restaurant, with everything from authentic Italian to unusual Latin American cuisine on offer.

And if you’re looking for an unusual gift or two, there are selections from Peru, Indonesia, Colombia, Montenegro, Japan, Mauritius and many more.

Helping others

The event is organised by Moscow’s International Women’s Club, with the support of 60 embassies, and has been held since 1987.

The proceeds will support the club’s numerous charitable activities helping orphans, children in hospitals, homeless people, stray animals and many others.

Apart from this, the club runs hobby groups, organises regular events and meetings as well as offering volunteering opportunities to its members.

Despite its name, IWC membership is open to male expats as well as female, and costs 2200 roubles a year. For more details, please visit the official website www.iwcmoscow.ru.

The IWC Winter Bazaar, Sat. Nov. 27, 10 am – 4 pm, Radisson SAS Slavyanskaya Hotel, Ploshchad Evropy, m. Kievskaya
