As a tribute to the late Oleg Kagan, several of Russia’s best musicians will come together for a concert next Tuesday.
The concert kicks off with a rarely performed overture by Wagner, “Faust”, followed by Max Bruch’s Concerto for Violin and Viola, rearranged for violin and cello, with renowned artists Viktor Tretyakov and Natalia Gutman as soloists.
The second half will start out with Swiss-born composer Ernest Bloch’s “Schelomo” for cello and orchestra and wrap up with Mahler’s 5th Symphony, which is being performed in Moscow for at least the third time this season.
Estonian conductor Andres Mustonen will conduct the Novaya Rossiya Orchestra.
