Just like many other prominent Western rock acts of the 1960s and 1970s, The Doors never performed in the Soviet Union. And by the time communism collapsed, opening doors to foreign artists to come to Russia on tour, the American band had been disbanded for nearly 20 years, following the death of its front man Jim Morrison back in 1971. But the show by the Manzarek- Krieger lineup, featuring two former Doors members, is likely to at least partially compensate the band’s domestic fans for never having seen The Doors live in concert.
Between the early 1970s and early 2000s, The Doors’ former keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger several times reunited for a one-off gig, but since 2002, they have been touring on a regular basis, performing The Doors’ old material. And the band’s current singer Dave Brock has been already dubbed “Morrison’s reincarnation.”
