A case on theft in metal construction worth more than 96 million rubles during the construction of the Russky Island Bridge in Primorye for the APEC summit has been sent to court.

“According to police information, former security employee of Mostovik company Rafael Dzhavadov, 32, arranged a scheme for the illegal extraction and sale of the metal construction,” regional police announced, RIA Novosti reported.

The suspect organized a group with other employees of the security service, who allowed certain transportation to enter and leave without being checked. Warehouse employees were also involved, and loaded the metal on these cars.

“After the suspects stole from the constructor’s warehouses, they brought [the metal] to points of metal collection in Vladivostok. The preliminary damage from their actions exceeds 96 million rubles,” the police said.

Dzhavadov, thought to be the group’s leader, was arrested and three other participants are not allowed to leave Vladivostok.
